Kurt Soderling graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelors of Arts in Film and Television Production in 1988, he has since enjoyed a very successful career as a director of photography in the film and Television business for over 22 years.


His accomplishments in cinematography are prominent throughout over 100 film and television credits that include: Titanic, Independence Day, Seabiscuit, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Meet the Fockers, CSI, The Shield, 24, Nip Tuck, Trauma. Hawaii FIVE 0,‘The Green Hornet’, ‘The Other Guys’, The Amazing Spiderman, The Hunger Games


Kurt has extensive work on commercials, like Burger King, FedEx, Acura, Ford, and Saab. Kurt has collaborated one to one with top directors such as: Steven Spielberg, Tony Scott, Jim Cameron, Mike Nichols, Barry Sonnenfeld, Curtis Hanson, Robert Zemeckis and Michael Bay.


Kurt has parlayed his experience into his production company Soderling Productions, and has Written, Produced and Directed Award-winning documentaries. He has done extensive local spots as well as individual pieces for institutions like Woodbury University and Los Angeles International Airport.



Kurt also gives back to Chapman University, his alma matter, were he teaches seminars on film making. He is on the Board of Alumni Academic Advisors, and hires Chapman film students and Alumni in productions to assist them into the transition to the world of production.Kurt received the prestigious Alumni of the Year Award in 2000, and was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Chapman University’s School of Film and Television in 2003.


With Kurt’s 20 years of film work and experience, combined with his passion of documentary film making, his directorial debut was the 2004 release of the award winning feature documentary film, ‘Class of 83’.


Kurt and his wife Melinda have spent the last 5 years producing and directing over 200 stunning interviews and over 100+ shoots of amazing dance footage for their documentary film, ‘MOVE’ www.MOVEtheFILM.com


On 11.11.11 Kurt and his Wife Melinda launched a website called MOVEtvNETWORK.com and have since released 50 online videos to share with the world. Join us at MOVE TV

He also donates part of his time, energy and equipment on environmental issues by partnering with ‘The Whaleman Foundation’, a non-profit foundation with the life works of Jeff Pantukhoff to help make a difference in our world and educating the public of our environmental impact to marine mammals. They produced a short called ‘Deadly Sounds in the Silent World’ which won best short at the Jackson Hole film festival. They continue to travel the world to capture footage of celebrities, and their interaction with marine wildlife.
